Adopt A Pet

As mentioned, Sweetie the cat was left in a box, with three other cats, outside the Bergen County Animal Shelter one night.  Because of her age, six or seven years old,  it took her six weeks to be adopted.

There are millions of Dogs and Cats, and yes, other animals and birds, that are just waiting for a loving home.  Each has a different story to tell.  Please give them a chance of a happy life.  If you are looking for a new pet, please adopt.  I did, and Sweetie has rewarded me with love and companionship.

There are many ways to find a pet to adopt, however, I suggest you go to www.petfinder.com.  You will find all the information you need, including:

  • Things to think about before getting a pet
  • How to choose the right pet for you
  • How to take care of your pet once you bring him/her home
  • Locations of Animal Shelters near you
  • Lists and pictures of pets that are available for adoption
  • And so much more

If you are not able to get a pet right now, you can still help by giving a donation.  It cost a lot of money to feed and shelter these animals, not to mention the cost of medical care.  You can give your donation by going to your local animal shelter, or you can contact Pet Finder with your donation.

Also, there are organization such as EFA: Artist Helping Animals, that sell products and give a portion or all of the proceeds to various animal charities.  Just something to think about when you are buying things for your pets.

One other thing I would like to mention.  Although there are plenty of kittens and puppies available for adoption, think about adopting an adult.  There are plenty of advantages to this.  They are already potty trained, you know in advance what their personality will be like when you see them for the first time, and they have a ton of love to give.
